DIY wedding flowers from my garden

May 30, 2010

I’ve been trying to grow ranunculus in my garden for a few years, with no luck (might have something to do with planting the bulbs upside down!), so I was very proud when these orange ones finally bloomed this year. I think they look lovely next to the green viburnum opulus (which is also from my garden). Both are at their best during April and May, so perfect for spring weddings.

Chrysanthemums have been given such a bad press, but I think the individual heads look so nice when used alone and would look really pretty placed at each guests place setting (they weren’t from the garden – £2 a bunch from Tesco!) Can’t wait for June – I’ve been lovingly nurturing peonies, delphiniums and my first David Austin rose, so hopefully I’ll have more displays to share!

  1. I LOVE LOVE LOVE ranunculus, sadly they are out of season for my wedding. Maybe I should steal yours… although I’m guessing in a month they will have stopped flowering. I did find a ranunculus wreath that you can print out on card and hang on the back of your chair on martha stewart though! xx
